A little about me

I am not a professional blogger, just a guy who has many interests, which include (but are not limited to) computers, music, photography, and sports. Occasionally I like to spout off on certain topics, but I try not to go over the top.

I was recently a consultant at CME Group, doing performance testing. My previous assignment was consulting with TIAA, as a Business Analyst and UAT Coordinator. I spent 10+ years as a TIAA employee in the IT department, as a QA Analyst and Software Tester. I took an early retirement package in 2015 to relax, recharge, and refocus. I also completed my BA from Southern New Hampshire University. My degree is in General Studies, with a concentration in Communications and Professional Writing.

In the Air Force, I had assignments in Utah, Alabama, Germany, Nebraska, and some temporary assignments in Sicily and Greece. I spent most of my career as a computer programmer and software tester. Upon leaving the Air Force, I moved into software quality assurance and have been testing software ever since. I have worked for a food wholesaler in Oklahoma City, the State of Oklahoma, and 15+ years for TIAA, a major financial company in Charlotte, NC. In November of 2019, I moved back to my home state of Illinois.

I have always had an interest in technical writing and journalism, but never pursued anything formal. I am most passionate about nature stories like glaciers, storms and the effects weather has on our planet. I also have a passion for sports; mostly hockey and baseball, but have also photographed cross-country motorcycle races for friends. My dream job would be to become a photojournalist and work for National Geographic, or Sports Illustrated, but I would also lovento see my work in publications like Nature Photographer, Scientific American, or Discovery Magazine.
